Is ACS Re-assessment & Renewal right for me?
This course if for experienced gas engineers (Category 1) looking to renew existing ACS certification and qualifications, including CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, HTR1, and CKR1.
You will need to provide:
- Your previous ACS certificate (either due to expire within the next 6 months or expired within the last 12 months) and
- Your Gas Safe registration number and expiry date.
If your ACS certificate expired more than 12 months ago, you will need to re-take your core gas safety qualifications, CCN1 and associated appliances. Click here to find out more.
For gas operatives who want to refresh their knowledge prior to re-assessment, full training can be provided.
How long does ACS Re-assessment & Renewal take?
Training is not a pre-requisite to ACS re-assessment, however, Teach A Trade do included training as part of your 4 day re-assessment package.
ACS re-assessment training provides experienced gas engineers with the opportunity to refresh their core gas safety knowledge considering any changes to regulations, standards and safety procedures.
Course Content:
Our ACS Re-assessment & Renewal course provides a mixture of theory and practical training and assessment, including the following (as required):
- CCN1 & CPA1 – Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety and Combustion Analysis
- CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers and Hot Water Heaters. (Previously CEN & WAT1 ACS were separate modules. They are now combined to form the CENWAT).
- HTR1 – Gas Fires and Wall Heaters.
- CKR1 -Domestic Cookers
We would advise you to book at least a month in advance of your certificate expiring to ensure you secure a place and take advantage of any quiet periods in your working calendar. Book yourself a place if you know you have some free time coming up.

Assessment Method:
Practical and written test.
If candidates fail to achieve the required level of competency in either the practical or theory assessment, it may be necessary for them to re-sit the sections in which they have failed. If this situation arises an additional cost will be incurred.
